About Me

About Me

I started Computer Science and Informatics at the Polytechnic Institute of Havana in 2000. In 2016, I was impressed by a group of people that were doing chemoinformatics and computational biology at CIGB. In 2006, I join this group of talented physicists and chemists with a thesis about the conformational search of small compounds using parallel programming.

From 2006 to 2014, I work for CIGB, the major Biotech company in Cuba. Among other things, I was the Lead Architect of the computer cluster of the institute; the proteomics analyst expert and finally the Computational Proteomics Group leader. I discuss my PhD in Biochemistry at Havana University; which probably means that I'm the unique person in Cuba with both degrees (Informatics and Biochemistry).

In 2014, I move to UK to work at the EMBL-EBI first as a Bioinformatician, Project Lead (2017), and at present Team Coordinator of Proteomics Resources.

My main interest is the development of large-scale algorithms and resources for bioinformatics. I have a special interest in proteomics and multi-omics data. Here some of my contacts:
